On April 2nd the sixth graders at All Saints participated in the annual Move Up Day. Move Up Day is when the sixth graders visit the middle school to meet the teachers and get an idea of the classes before we choose them. This year we received pizza for lunch before we started the tour. Mr.Gonzales, Coach Hubbard, and Mrs.Rogers talked to us about the basic expectations, and then we met some of the elective teachers. At first it was overwhelming, but I’m glad we got the chance to learn about middle school with the grown ups who work there every day.
This experience was a little less intimidating for me because I have a brother in 8th grade. However, it is scary to have so many new choices, for a lot of freedom brings a lot of responsibility. I feel middle school is the time to try new things and figure out what you like. Before coming to All Saints two years ago, the only sport I really knew was soccer, so I’m glad we get the chance to sample sports in P.E. before we have to play competitively. Overall, I’m a little nervous but excited to start this new chapter in my life at a wonderful school.
