Welcome to the Spring Sports Season! After successful showings in the Winter SPC Tournaments in Houston from our Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Soccer, and Swimming teams, as well as our Men’s Wrestling team, the Athletic Department is ready to turn the page and focus on our Spring Sports. Competitions for our Baseball, Softball, Golf, Tennis, and Track & Field teams have all begun and we are excited about this year’s teams.
Middle School Baseball has turned out a record number of participants – 36 total Seventh and Eighth Grade students. Their future is bright and we are also excited for this year’s Varsity Baseball team. They opened the season with a convincing win over Prosper High School, 15-5, and have now traveled to The Woodlands for a weekend tournament comprised of local DFW and Houston-area private schools.
Varsity Softball is excited about their season with a good number of Freshmen making the squad. They have experienced players returning from last year’s team to provide leadership, and coupled with the skills and talent that the Freshmen have, they could make a strong run through their SPC schedule.
Varsity Tennis will begin it’s season next Tuesday, March 4, with matches at Trinity Valley School at 4:30pm. New Varsity coaches Scott Jarrett and Cassidy Acuff are happy to be leading this group of players and feel they will be able to compete strongly with each team they face.
Varsity Golf will also begin it’s tournament schedule next week when the Varsity Women’s Golf Team and JV Men’s Golf Team tee off at Hawks Creek Golf Course on Wednesday, March 5. Both Men’s and Women’s Varsity teams are very strong this year and should compete for an SPC Championship.
The Track & Field team is comprised of over 30 student-athletes, and the Men’s team should be very strong in competitions this year. With Seniors Kendall Adams, Blaze Moorhead, Brandon Johnson, Daniel Gresham, CJ Lane, Charlie Flores, and Cannon Maki all leading the Men’s team, they should look to place well in multiple events throughout the season. The Women’s team welcomes back Seniors Katie Mitchell and Brooke White, and their experience should help provide leadership for the Women’s team.
As always, schedules can be found on The Wire and we look forward to seeing everyone at the various sporting events throughout the rest of the Spring. Be Early, Be Loud, Go Saints – PTF.
